Fall Fiber Festival

Little girl with flower headband
This weekend was the Fall Fiber Festival in Montpelier Station, Virginia.

My friend Allegra always has a booth there and I was able to help her a bit and also take a few things of my own to sell. The little girl in the picture above was a bit reluctant to have her picture taken and, somewhat reluctantly, allowed me to photograph her.
Thank goodness for my new smart phone!
I LOVE how it looks on her!

Needle felted Santa's waiting to go to the  Montpelier Fall Fiber Festival
It's that time of year!!! Getting ready for Christmas and making Santas... there is a Mrs Claus in this photos... can you find her?

Needle Felted Acorns
I have been collecting acorns for awhile intending to needle felt some & put the "tops" back on. Motivated be the fall and my husbands willingness to use his Dremel tool to drill tiny holes in the tops for the ribbon to go through, I have finally made some. Here are some I have made as Christmas ornament's. I also made some as necklaces &  some just to use as decoration.

April Showers Bring May Flowers!

New Headbands !
Yesterday was bright & clear and I got outside to snap a few pics... so many mosquitos!

I have been busy making new headbands inspired by my friend's sweet granddaughter!
She was given one as a gift by a month or so ago, after my first batch of flower headbands "bloomed", and apparently she LOVES it and wears it a LOT!!  I wish I had a photo of her to post here. I think headbands are better viewed on a head, of course. :)
The only willing model I have here is my cat and he is not always willing at the same time I have my camera ready. :)

I am posting quite a few here in hopes she can look at them and "shop" for herself.
This one is pretty deep purple headband with a bright candy pink flower, the center has tiny bluey-purple glass beads handsewn and one bright yellow bead in the center!

The ONLY one I used a button in the center...the button was sparkly & matched to soft turquoise merino wool I use for the headband part. The flower looks kinda blue in this photo but it is really a dark purple.

Bigger flower...deep magenta headband.. colors inspired by my orchids in bloom

Sweet needle felted flowers!

Springtime flowers!

around here, in central Virginia,
flowers are blooming everywhere!

Inspired by their beauty,
I've been creating some flowers of my own!
needle felted flowers

brooches & headbands!

flower headbands

These flowers are all painstakingly  (LOL) needle-felted using mostly Corridale wool roving.

Each flower takes over an hour to needle and then I add handsewn glass beads.
THEN, I either add a pin back OR attach them to a headband.

The headbands are wet felted using soft Merino fibers and
allowed to dry before I attach the needled flowers.~
